DEFENSE

I have been angry –
angry with my god
and with myself.

And anger has been
my two-edged sword,
defending me,

cutting me apart.
Shall I lay down
the weapon I forged

in darkness?
Shall I make war
no more upon god

and self? My soul
is without defense:
do as you will.
