Candide, a poem

Candide

Voltaire wrote Candide in three days,
while God required six to create
the best of all possible worlds.

I would think it was all
the coffee that made the difference,
those fifty cups each day

that fueled the philosopher's
creative fury. But God, no doubt,
slept better on the seventh day.

this exists pretty much for the sake of its punchline
